This website is operated by Dr Ash Kumar ("we", "us") — the data controller for the personal information described here. We keep things simple: we collect the minimum we need to respond to you, deliver what you sign up for, and understand how the site is used. We never sell your data.
What we collect, and why
- Email and name, when you give them to us — via the newsletter, the 7-day stress challenge, the free-chapter download or the contact form. Used to deliver the thing you asked for and, where you've signed up for it, occasional emails from Dr Ash. Lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time — every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Messages you send — through the contact form or the chat widget. Used to reply to you. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- Usage analytics — pages visited, approximate location (country/city level), device type, via Google Analytics 4. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner (Consent Mode v2 — if you decline, Google receives only cookieless, anonymised pings). Lawful basis: consent.
- Technical logs — our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, request URL, timestamp) for security and reliability. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
The interactive tools on this site — the burnout self-check, the stress-stage finder and the 2-minute reset — run entirely in your browser. Your answers are not transmitted to us or stored on our servers.
Who processes data on our behalf
- Kajabi (Kajabi LLC, USA) — stores form submissions and sends our emails.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) — usage analytics, only with your consent.
- Tawk.to (tawk.to Inc.) — powers the chat widget and stores chat transcripts.
- Netlify (Netlify Inc., USA) — hosts the site and keeps server logs.
- Embedded services — some pages embed content from YouTube (in privacy-enhanced no-cookie mode) and Buzzsprout (podcast player). These load only on the pages that use them and are governed by those providers' own privacy policies once you interact with them.
Some of these providers are based in the United States; transfers rely on their standard contractual clauses and/or Data Privacy Framework certification.
Cookies
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — set only after you click Accept in the cookie banner. You can change your mind anytime via "Cookie settings" in the footer.
- Functional cookies (Tawk.to) — used by the chat widget to keep your conversation connected.
- Preferences — we use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your cookie choice and light/dark theme.
How long we keep it
Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe (plus a suppression record so we don't email you again). Contact enquiries and chat transcripts: up to 24 months, then deleted. Analytics data: 14 months (Google Analytics' standard retention). Server logs: rotated automatically by our host.
Your rights
Under UK/EU data protection law (and similar laws elsewhere) you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export the personal data we hold about you, object to or restrict our use of it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@drashkumar.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our answer you can complain to your local supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO — ico.org.uk).
A note on health
This site provides educational content about stress and burnout — it is not medical advice, and nothing you submit here creates a doctor–patient relationship. Please don't share medical details through the forms or chat; if you're struggling, speak to your own doctor.
Changes
If we change this policy or the services behind it, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged to email subscribers.
Questions about any of this? Email hello@drashkumar.com or use the contact page.
